Terms of Service — Consilium Artis Belli
Effective date: 2026-09-18
Language: These terms are published in English and in Spanish. English is the original version; if the two versions differ, the English version prevails.
1. What Consilium Artis Belli is
Consilium Artis Belli ("CAB", "the Service", "we") is a web application for team and individual tournament wargaming, available at consiliumartisbelli.com. It does four things:
- it helps team captains prepare matchup preferences ("rule sets") and run the pairing sequence of a team tournament, in a War Room;
- it lets organizers register and run events: participants, rosters, army lists, rounds, pairings, results and standings;
- it publishes what the organizer of an event decides to publish — event dashboards, the public card of an event, and a stream overlay;
- it mirrors tournaments hosted by external providers (today Best Coast Pairings), so that what those tournaments publish can be read here.
The Service is operated from Spain.
2. Your account
- You sign in with a Google or Discord account, or, exceptionally, with a sign-in link we generate and hand to you directly. We create a CAB account keyed to the verified email address those providers give us.
- Your account carries a unique public nick, and a display name if you choose one. That is what other accounts see of you.
- You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping access to your sign-in provider secure.
- You must be at least 14 years old to use the Service.
- We may suspend accounts that abuse the Service (see Section 5).
3. Your content
- Rule sets, rules, notes and rosters you create belong to you. You grant us the license needed to store them and to show them to the people described in this section — nothing more.
- Sharing is invitation-based: a rule set you share is visible to the recipient after they accept, until you revoke the share or delete the content. Joining a team works the same way, by invitation.
- Sharing is not the only way something becomes visible. In an event, the organizer decides what is published of that event — by class of data (the competition itself, participants, rosters, army lists, pairings, results, standings, groups and rankings) and by destination (the event's own participants, the general public, a stream overlay, or the public API). Every class starts closed to the public, to overlays and to the API. If you take part in an event, what the organizer opens is what is seen.
- Sharing is not the only way content ARRIVES either. You can mint a link for a rule set and hand it to a team-mate: what that person fills in, with no account and without seeing anything of yours beyond the pairs to grade, creates a rule set that is yours, under the name you gave the link. Content that reaches you this way is yours and your responsibility, like anything you typed — and the link is a capability: whoever holds its address can fill it, so hand it out as carefully as you would any other private link.
- Your War Rooms and everything in them — rosters, army lists, rival teams, valuations, marks, rounds and pairings — are stored on our servers, tied to the account that created them, and are deleted with that account. What lives on your device is only a temporary offline replica of the War Room you are running, so that you can keep working without network; the server is always the source of truth. The Privacy Policy describes both halves in detail.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- attempt to access other users' data or probe the Service for vulnerabilities outside of a responsible disclosure to hola@consiliumartisbelli.com;
- use the Service to distribute unlawful content or content you do not have rights to (including reproducing copyrighted game text in notes);
- abuse sharing or account-creation flows (rate limits apply);
- interfere with the operation of the Service.
5. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate Section 4, with notice where reasonably possible. You may stop using the Service at any time; to delete your account and its data, contact hola@consiliumartisbelli.com (see the Privacy Policy for what deletion covers and why it is handled by support).
6. Paid features
The Service is currently free. Nothing has ever been sold through it, so no account has a purchase history and none is stored. If paid features are introduced, their terms (pricing, billing, cancellation and refunds) will be presented before any purchase and added here, and what deletion must preserve to honour a refund right will be stated then. Today deletion is handled by support for one reason only, and it is not about money: verifying that whoever asks holds the account (Privacy Policy, Section 7).
7. Availability and changes
- The Service is provided "as is", without warranty of uninterrupted availability. We may change or discontinue features; for material changes we will give reasonable notice in the app.
- We may update these terms; continued use after notice of a change constitutes acceptance. The current version is always available at consiliumartisbelli.com/terms.
8. Liability
To the extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim (currently zero for free accounts). Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under Spanish law.
9. Third-party content
Game data (faction names and similar structural data) is adapted from the community-maintained 40kdc dataset (@alpaca-software/40kdc-data, data licensed CC BY 4.0 by Alpaca Software and the 40kdc community contributors). We extract and transform part of it; the Service never reproduces complete unit datasheets. CAB is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any game publisher. Trademarks belong to their owners.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by Spanish law. Disputes are subject to the courts of Spain, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protections of your place of residence within the EU.

12. Change history
- 2026-09-18 — first published. The text was brought in line with what the system actually does, checked section by section against the database schema. Four statements changed: the Service is described by everything it does today and not only as a pairing assistant (Section 1); tournament data is stored on our servers and not only on your device (Section 3); invitation-based sharing now sits next to the publication the organizer of an event decides, and next to the link a captain hands out for a team-mate to fill his rules in (Section 3); and Section 6 no longer suggests there is a purchase history to protect — there are no paid features and no purchases, and deletion goes through support to verify who is asking.
